School Information
Camp Lead Inc. is designed as hands-on learning where students' needs and interests are met first and additional requirements met second. PK(potty trained kids)-12 students enrolled in this program are given the opportunity to learn in a style they like, in a hybrid (online and in-person) fashion, and continue to excel in what their interests are.
Classes through this program are designed and implemented by licensed teachers. The goal of our teachers is to make learning fun and adaptable to the needs of each individual student. Most classes last one school year (~180 days), however some run by the semester.
In-person classes are held on the property of 3 Heifers Farm (4291 E 1100 S, Fairmount, Indiana 46928) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a break for lunch included. The online part of courses are offered through Google Classroom and are operated asynchronously on “off days.” The online part consists of a week’s worth of work for each class. Students must attend at least one in-person day each week to allow proper connections with peers and staff. Breakfast and lunch is provided during all in-person days. Latchkey hours (3:15 - 6:00 p.m.) are also available for $10 per day or $40 a week, per child.
Camp Lead is NOT an accredited school, rather it is a homeschool program. Because of this, we do not participate in any state testing and we do not receive any state funding.
Tuition
Families who would like to enroll in our program must pay a semester tuition fee of $1,500 per semester per child or $3,000 for the entire school year per child (roughly $85 a week per child). Families who enroll more than one child are eligible to receive a reduction in tuition up to $1,000* (deductions are based on a per family situation and can be discussed with the program’s director).
Students enrolled in section 3 may be asked to pay a higher tuition to cover the cost of dual enrollment courses (up to $1,500 per semester extra) through Ivy Tech. The additional tuition goes directly to Ivy Tech to cover the college’s course tuition fees.
All tuition funds go towards paying staff, purchasing breakfast and lunch items, covering the cost of materials, and potentially funding any/all field trips.
Latchkey
Latchkey hours are available with advance notice for all families. Morning latchkey (6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., program start time) is available for $5 per day per child. Afternoon latchkey (3:15 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.) costs $10 per day per child or $40 per week per child.
Latchkey fees are an additional fee on top of regular tuition fees. Tuition payments do not pay for any latchkey hours.
School Breakdown
Camp Lead breaks down our PK-12 system into three bodies: PK –Sixth Grade (Section 1), Seventh Grade – Ninth Grade (Section 2), and Tenth Grade – Twelfth Grade (Section 3). We also offer a high ability program to those enrolled in any of our sections that allow students to obtain more rigor and accelerate their learning and progression in our program/school. Prospect high ability families should connect with Camp Lead’s Director to discuss high ability placements.
Section 1 teaches the primary subjects (such as math, reading/writing, science, and social studies) along with “special” classes (art, music, P.E., and technology). Students will rotate weekly through special classes. This results in students having approximately 5 classes or approximately 5 hours worth of work daily – per Indiana homeschool requirements for elementary students.
Section 2 teaches students primary subjects (math, reading, science, and social studies), but also allows students to start exploring different specialized areas (art, music, technology, agriculture, P.E., health, FACS). Students are required to choose at least two specialized areas. This results in students having 6 classes or approximately 6 hours worth of work daily – per Indiana homeschool requirements for secondary students.
Section 3 allows students to prepare for life after high school by focusing on what each student is interested in and providing a chance to earn college credit (through Ivy Tech courses and professors). Students in section 3 are also prepared to take a GED exam with classes in math, reading, science, and social studies that align to Indiana Core 40 programs. Students enrolled in section 3 are also given the opportunity to graduate early based on previous enrollment in Camp Lead’s homeschool program (opportunity to graduate early is based on individuals who have completed accelerated courses in previous years and have shown the capabilities of high ability*). Students are required to have at least 6 classes each semester or 6 hours worth of work daily – per Indiana homeschool requirements for secondary students.
High ability students are subjected to the same course requirements for their original section. These students will receive work that is one to two grade levels above their learning level (as determined by the program director). Ninth grade students, however, will be given the chance to partake in the options available in section 3.
